Free tools for candle makers — built to replace guesswork with precise measurements every batch.
Candle Making Calculator was built because candle makers deserve better tools. Calculating fragrance load, wick size, burn time, and pricing used to mean bouncing between a dozen forum threads, old blog posts, and supplier PDFs — all giving slightly different numbers. We put everything in one place, free, with no signup required.
Whether you're making your first batch of soy candles at your kitchen table or running a small candle business on Etsy, precise measurements are what separate a great candle from a frustrating one. Too little fragrance and there's no scent throw. Too much and the wax sweats, the wick floods, and the candle burns dangerously.
Our goal is to give every candle maker — beginner and experienced alike — the same calculation tools professional chandlers use, for free.

Our wax calculator uses the industry-standard 0.86 specific gravity factor to convert container capacity to wax weight — the same formula used by suppliers like CandleScience and Brambleberry. Fragrance load percentages are based on safe maximums established for each wax type. Wick recommendations use CD and ECO series sizing charts cross-referenced by jar diameter.
All results are estimates — actual performance varies by fragrance oil density, colorant, container shape, and ambient temperature. We always recommend test burning before committing to a full production batch.
Alongside our calculators we publish in-depth candle making guides covering the questions makers search most. Our articles are written based on established chandlery practices and reviewed for accuracy. Topics include fragrance load by wax type, wax comparisons, and complete beginner walkthroughs.
